Biography

Bridget Fox grew up in Knoxville,TN and obtained a BFA in Ceramics from the University of Georgia in 1996 under the direction of Andy Naisse and Ted Saupe. Originally a painting major, she followed the advice of a friend and enrolled in a ceramics course. Since then she has not wavered from the muddy path of a ceramic artist. This path has led her from her humble beginnings as a backyard pit-firer to the colorfully rich coatings of cone 6 oxidation firing and the wonderful magic of high fire wood firing. Gradually, she has built a life in clay by working independently out of her home while slowly acquiring more resources and skills to increase her production capability and enhance the quality of her work. Over the years her work has progressed from simple, primitive pit-fired forms to complex, elegant and exotic vessels. However, it has always remained true to her unique organic style which has won her many awards and intrigued many minds.

Bridget Fox currently lives in Macon,Ga and works out of her home studio. She sells her work regionally through galleries, shops, festivals and shows and enjoys teaching handbuilding classes for all ages and abilities. She is a very thrifty and free spirited individual who enjoys experimenting with all aspects of the process and is driven by an undying passion for all things earthly. Thanks to the broad amount of information and inspiration provided by generous fellow potters and the vast interweb of technologye she constantly enriches her education and develops more skills.

She offers many thanks to all those who support her love for being fully immersed in the dirt and all its life sustaining capacities and wonderfully varied capabilities. And she is always delighted when one of her creations is welcomed into a new loving home to be shared, cherished and appreciatively displayed.
